Meditations for the Journey~Original Keyboard Instrumentals

Meditations for the Journey~Original Keyboard Instrumentals-is the thirtieth album of published music the Lord has given me to share since 2013.

The first album the Lord gave me was God’s Rainbow Promise.

That first release was to be a harbinger of the three main types of music that the Lord would be producing through me for the next nine years: both original vocal prayer songs and instrumentals, and traditional Christian hymns.

We serve a risen Lord and Savior who desires very much to communicate with us.

That is why He revealed to me that He gave me this music; He said that they are His musical conversations and that if people will take them into their prayer closets along with their Bibles and listen to them (or even just a clip) and read His Word, looking up the scripture reference the song title points to, by faith trusting He’ll speak to them, He will indeed speak to their hearts.

Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow me...” John 10:27 KJV

The Lord asked me to become a musician for His glory.

I was not a musician before He dropped this beautiful gift in my lap.

I didn’t know why the Lord would take a soul who cared only about music as something to listen to while creating art, and would make her into someone whom He created music through for His glory

I look at all of the music He has made through me and am astonished.

I know it is the Lord’s work and not mine

The other day He inspired me to sit down and listen to the songs on Meditations for the Journey and contemplate them during my quiet time. He had me concentrate on the music, then look up the scripture reference the song title pointed to while praying, and ask the Holy Spirit to teach me what I believed He was saying to my heart through the music and scriptures. I took my notebook and pen, got out my bible, and listened to the song, pausing as necessary.

I chose to focus on the title track, “Jesus is the Author of Our Faith.” The scripture reference for this song is from the book of Hebrews 12.

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed

about with so great a cloud of witnesses,

let us lay aside every weight,

and the sin which doth so easily beset us,

and let us run with patience

the race that is set before us,

Looking unto Jesus

the author and finisher of our faith;

who for the joy that was set before Him

endured the cross,

despising the shame,

and is set down at the right hand

of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-3- KJV

As I listened to the music I saw it in my mind as an organic triangular shape, its long perspective shooting wildly upward into an ever expanding light, which symbolized the high notes dancing on a steep mountain that kept appearing the more I listened to the song. I noticed a pronounced symmetry in the music as the lower tones kept resounding beneath the steep mountain.

It seemed as if one had been ascending the summit of a great height,

only to tumble down the keys into a dark valley where the echoes of the shadowy notes reiterated their voices in another layer of somber tones; after one had heard so distinctly the brighter notes chiming in the airy sunshine as if they would go on in their cheery triumphant echoes forever.

Down the valley and up the mount…only to fall into the shadows again, but one day, the crown we will reach if we don’t give up for great joy lies up ahead just around the bend…

The music reminded me of the scripture;

“And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” Romans 5:3-5

For to climb the heights of heaven and taste of its glories and joy and then fall into the depths of despair is indeed a kind of intense suffering that some of God’s children are appointed to in this world.

However, Christ promises to be with His own no matter where they must go on their journey with Him in this life.

For Christ, the Author of our faith, has paved the way for each of us.

There is nowhere we can go that Jesus has not gone first.

And He will go there again with us through the Holy Spirit He has put in our hearts to abide with us forever as we abide in Him, keeping our hands in His and our eyes on Him, and not focused on this world with all its distractions.

One of the most comforting passages of scripture is Psalm 139:7-12:

Whither shall I go from Thy spirit?

Or whither shall I flee from Thy presence?

If I ascend up into heaven,

Thou art there:

If I make my bed in hell,

behold, Thou art there.

If I take the wings of the morning,

and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

Even there shall Thy hand lead me,

and Thy right hand shall hold me.

If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me;

even the night shall be light about me.

Yea, the darkness hideth not from Thee;

but the night shineth as the day:

the darkness and the light are both alike to Thee.

Psalm 139:7-12 - KJV

I couldn’t help but hear those scriptures resonating in this music as I listened to it and was comforted.

For it sent me straight to those passages reminding me

of the Author and Finisher of my faith who for the joy set

before Him endured His cross, despising the shame,

ever looking upward toward the Light ahead of Him by faith.

And if He could endure, then He would help me persevere throughout my journey on this earth no matter what challenges I must face.

For Jesus Christ is a living, risen Savior, and He ever dwells within me by His Spirit who will never leave or forsake me. In Jesus’ name, amen.

This song meditation illustrates the idea of how the Lord wants to speak to us through these songs.

I pray that what I’ve written will inspire you to listen to the music for yourself and let the Lord speak through them to you personally, for He surely has a unique word for each soul who takes the time to listen to them, while meditating on His Word, and praying to Him.

As I wrote, the songs are His divine conversation starters

The titles are to lead us into God’s Word, and as we listen to the songs, contemplate His Word, and pray, His Holy Spirit will guide us into the truth of what He wants to teach us.

However, We must approach the Lord by faith.

“Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for He that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6 - KJV

We must want to seek Him, want to believe that He will speak to us, and believe that He will speak to each of us, not just to some of us.

It is imperative that Christians read God’s Word for themselves, and not let people tell us what the Bible means.

Jesus said, “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost,

whom the Father will send in My name,

He shall teach you all things,

and bring all things to your remembrance,

whatsoever I have said unto you.” John 14:26 - KJV

John the Apostle wrote,

“But the anointing which ye have received of Him

abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you:

but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things,

and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you,

ye shall abide in Him.” 1 John 2:27 - KJV

The Word of God is the most important Book we will ever read for it is God’s revelation of Himself.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, May You speak to our hearts through these songs that are gifts from Your heart as they point to Thy Holy Word when we meditate on Thy Scriptures and listen to Thy Holy Spirit teaching us what Your Word is saying to us, for You have promised to speak to Thy sheep and You keep every promise forever, In Jesus’ name, thank You, we love You, amen.

Overcome Evil With Good

Today I feel very sad for all of the families who have lost loved ones in the recent school shooting in Texas.

My prayers go out to all of them and to our nation as well, for such horrible violence affects each of us at the core of our souls, though we may try to desensitize ourselves and pretend it doesn’t affect us because no bullets directly hit our flesh or wounded someone in our family.

But evil and violence affects every soul in our society whether we admit it or not.

And it begins with anger.

Consider Jesus’s words:

“But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.” Matthew 5:22 KJV

Anger breeds hatred.

John the apostle wrote: “But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.” 1 John 2:11,3:15 -KJV

Had the eighteen year old murderer in the recent shootings been taught to respect and love his grandmother, to love, glorify, trust, and believe in the God who had created him, and in whose image he and all other humans were formed, he most likely would not have dreamed of committing such an evil crime.

What is hell like?

I imagine that hell is an abyss where God’s name is not only taken in vain, but forever blasphemed, mocked, and reviled; a dark maze of interminable suffering, unrelenting pain, hunger, self delusion, fighting, dissatisfaction, greed, anger, hatred, covetousness, envy, vanity, idolatry, narcissism, lust, hypocrisy, addiction, loneliness, sickness that never ends, cold hearted souls who abuse and condemn others, poverty, bigotry, war, egotism, shame, riches with no satisfaction, ingratitude, and relationships without love, constant bickering and dissembling and every kind of deceit; souls forever stealing, caring nothing for the value of other’s property, hopelessness, fear, stress and worry, insecurity, despair, frustration because no one is ever truly happy and they can’t figure out why, and everything and anything that is against God’s will is committed all the time and championed because it is an endless night dominated by malevolent unseen spiritual forces.

Since hell is a territory governed by sin, and God’s Word reveals that the wages of sin is death, then I reckon that it’s a place whirling on a blind path towards its own self destruction.

The Apostle Peter wrote that the earth is just going to erupt into a ball of flames someday.

“But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men…But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?” 2 Peter 3:7,10,12 - KJV

    Sin

Sin is a corruption of something that will never go the right way and achieve its goal. It is an arrow that constantly misses the mark. And that mark is God’s will.

Faith, Love and Reverence for God

God’s will is revealed in His Word. When people stop fearing and respecting God; when they stop believing in Him, they stop loving Him.

If I stop fearing the Lord, I will also stop loving and believing in Him. If I lose any one of those three necessary components of love for God, then I lose all three of them.

In other words, I will have no faith, love, or fear of God.

Faith is more than just believing that God exists.

James 2:19 asserts “Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.” James 2:19 - KJV

While they might be afraid of God, those devils blaspheme, disobey, and dishonor the Lord through people all the time. They neither love, respect, nor glorify Him.

John the Apostle wrote: “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” 1 John 3:8 - KJV

The soul who desires to live for God and do His will, and who walks in love obeying Christ, no matter what their outward circumstances might be, has heaven in their heart.

Paul wrote in Colossians 1:13  that the soul who trusts Jesus Christ for salvation and who loves and obeys Christ is delivered by the Heavenly Father from the power of darkness, and “translated into the kingdom of His dear Son.”

Faith not only believes in God’s existence, but it means trusting Him to keep His word, to be faithful, to live up to everything He promises to be and more, no matter what they might have to endure.

I can attest to God’s faithfulness on this score as I live with chronic daily migraines. I know what hell is like and heaven too. Jesus Christ is a RISEN, LIVING Lord and Savior. He does not forsake us in our suffering.

Faith

Faith is not ashamed of the Lord Jesus Christ.

It is not embarrassed to be called a Christian. It does not substitute a cause for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and then delude itself into thinking that God is pleased, because causes do not save souls. Christ’s blood is the only thing that ever saved a soul.

Causes come and go.

Believe In the Risen Christ

If we want to glorify our risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who suffered and died on the cross to save us from the power of sin and hell, triumphing over our souls and our own ultimate self destruction, then we have to believe He exists and that He is watching everything we do, and hears every word we say and write, that He cherishes us more than we can ever comprehend and that He really and truly will speak to us if we will listen.

Christ Forgives All Our Sins

He will guide us and teach us His will and enable us to do it. He absolutely will forgive all our sins because His blood paid the price for every wrong thing we ever did against Him. If we are sorry for it and turn away from it He forgives us.

We might be ashamed of it but He won’t ever hold it against us. He washes our sins away as far as the east is from the west. The only one who ever brings our sins back up in our face is the devil and his allies.

The Accuser

The Bible refers to the devil as “the accuser of the brethren…” (see Revelations 12:10)

When we accuse, slander, libel, scorn, condemn, etc, we are throwing the ball in the wrong court.

Rather than “sit in the seat of the scorner…” (See Psalm 1:1-2) Christians are to look for the true, good, just, excellent, pure, noble, and praiseworthy things in ourselves and others (see Philippians 4:8)

Abiding In Christ

Christ tells us to abide in Him in our prayer closets and allow His Holy Spirit to guide us as He promises in His Word.

“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” John 14:26 - KJV

Anger

May we not allow anger to guide us. Anger does not accomplish Christ’s will. “For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.”

James 1:20 - KJV

Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.” Psalm 37:8 - KJV

Evil is defined as everything that opposes God’s will no matter how righteous it may appear on the surface.

May we ever give our anger to our Lord Jesus Christ. For He is the righteous Judge. May we be guided by His love. For to love is Christ’s command —His will. May we ever remember that Love is how we are defined as Christ’s disciples.

*Prayer

Heavenly Father, we mourn and pray for the families who lost loved ones in the Texas school shooting and ask that You comfort every precious family, every heart that has been shattered by this evil.

We pray You will hold them in Thy everlasting arms and fill them with rivers of Thy infinite love, mercy, and grace.

Comfort every fearful heart.

Lord, may we not grow insensitive and cold toward our fellow human as so much evil and iniquity abound in our world.

Help us to conquer evil by doing Thy good will on this hell bound earth that the reality of Thy heaven might live and be displayed in our hearts so all can see Thy light in us and You be glorified in our lives when we do Thy will to love and serve each other.

Help us always to say with Jesus who prayed while being tortured on the cross for our sins, “Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing,”

In Jesus’s name, amen.

Encouraging Scriptures

Jesus Christ said, “You have heard that the ancients were told, ‘You shall not murder,’ and ‘Whoever commits murder shall be answerable to the court.’

22 But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be answerable to the court; and whoever says to his brother, ‘You good-for-nothing,’ shall be answerable to the supreme court; and whoever says, ‘You fool,’ shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell.

23 Therefore, if you are presenting your offering at the altar, and there you

remember that your brother has something against you,

24 leave your offering there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your offering.” ~ Matthew 5:21-24 -NASB

“…do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not give the devil an opportunity.

All bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and slander must be removed from you, along with all malice.

Be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:26-27,31-32 - NASB

“If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.”

1 John 4:20-21 -KJV

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. James 1:19-20 - KJV

You Say...

You Say…

You say that you’re a pile of dung
That in the meadows lay
I say that you’re a cherished soul
For whom I died to save.

You say that you’re an accident;
Your mother’s foul mistake,
I say that I planned your life
And I love all that I make.

You say that you’re a nothing,
Your life's an empty hole,
But I gave to you a purpose
When I gave to you your soul.

You say that I don't love you,
That God does not exist,
That I cannot hear your prayers
Wouldn't answer if I did.

May I say that I see you,
I see your every tear,
I'm just as real as you are,
And always very near;
Although you cannot see Me,
I'm ever by your side,
I made you to walk with Me
In love, and joy and light.
Not in the darkness of self hate
Nor the spell of devil lies,
I died to free you from his chains
To give You love and life.

Open up your heart to Me,
I'll give to you new eyes,
You will see as I see you
A cherished jewel of Mine.

You will see yourself anew
And I will give you peace,
Love and joy will fill your heart
The darkness then will cease.

You must walk by faith, My child
If you would gain new eyes,
To replace your hate with love,
Your darkness with Christ's light.

Come to Me, oh come believe,
Your sorrow put away,
I say that you’re a cherished soul,
For whom I died to save.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, may all who read this prayer poem and these scriptures hear Your voice whispering in their heart that You cherish them more than they could ever comprehend. May You help them know that their life has infinite value, that You make no mistakes, that You love all that You create, that You allowed Your only Son Jesus Christ to suffer, bleed and die like a criminal on a Roman cross of execution over 2000 years ago to prove it so that we all might be forgiven and live forever with you in love and peace. Thank You, Lord, In Jesus' name, amen.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." John 3:16-17 (NIV)
